biography
Sally E K Warner is an advocate of eco design, passionate about nature and women's art.
As an artist she draws inspiration from nature, wildernesses, the ever changing sky and the earth. She creates dynamic, emotional and subtle pieces in oils, watercolours, mixed media such as graffiti and drawing with an angle grinder, sometimes using salvaged wood and metal as the canvas, like in her 'Half Cars'.
Sally designs and makes contemporary furniture using locally sourced hardwoods to minimize transport and to encourage the re-planting of our woodlands, beneficial to wildlife and the local economy.
Use of reclaimed wood, metal and other materials re-uses 'waste' and creates a piece of original contemporary design that will be used and appreciated for generations. At the end of its useful life, it can be disassembled, re-used, or ultimately return to the earth.
Having a passion to write and an interest in ancient history Sally wrote 'The Three Beasts & The Unicorns' in 2019, reworking a book she originally wrote in 1978, from age 7-9. She is now making it into a film. She has more books forthcoming to watch out for.
She studied Art at Wolverhampton University in 1990 and then Furniture Design BA at Shrewsbury Collage of Arts and Technology in 1994, going on to study Advanced Environmental and Energy Studies in Architecture MSc at The Centre for Alternative Technology with the University of East London in 2002.
Sally travelled with her son on a round the world ticket in 2004 but got stuck in Thailand where she met the father of her daughters. She now lives in Shropshire, England.
